Electro, World Music

Created by the founders of the Lemon Bucket Orchestra, a guerilla-folk and balkan-party-punk group composed of 13 musicians, Balaklava Blues finds itself somewhere between traditional Ukrainian singing and a multimedia techno spectacle. Mark and Marichka Marczyk met and fell in love during the Ukrainian Revolution of 2014 (Revolution of Dignity). Their experiences from the war pair with their unique knowledge of the polyphonic blues of the Ukrainian plains, exploding into an ethno-bass live set where the duo sings on original tracks influenced by EDM, trap, trance, and electro-pop. The songs are accompanied by visuals inspired by the war's frontlines, black-and-white archival material from the same region, and popular Soviet cartoons.
