Experimental, Rock, Punk

La Julia Smith is an experimental rock trio from Concepción, Chile. Since their first Quebec breakthrough at the FME in 2019, the band has traveled back and forth from South America to participate in a variety of festivals and artistic residencies, including M pour Montréal, HYPERART (Winnipeg), Breakout West (Kelowna). They also contributed music to the Quebec documentary "Pour Nous Chez Nous".

In 2021, the group founded an international residency program to develop collaborations between Chilean artists and Canada. As a result of their work with the international community, the members of La Julia Smith were named cultural ambassadors for their hometown of Concepción in 2020, and contributed to efforts to have it recognized as a UNESCO City of Music in 2023.

Julia Smith is now preparing to launch a new album recorded at BreakGlass Studios in Montreal, which will feature collaborations with Franco-Manitoban artist Rayannah. The first single from this collection will be released in January 2024, alongside a tour of Chile.

Pablo, Marcelo and Paulo offer an experimental, energetic and incomparable show. The dynamic trio swap instruments throughout the show, submerging their audience in a wave of psychedelic post-punk worthy of South American rock.
