Basia Bulat is a singer-songwriter based in Montreal, Canada. She has a distinctive voice and her music draws inspiration from gospel and soul as much as from classic folk. In addition to her powerful voice, Bulat is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist who plays electric guitar, piano, autoharp, ukulele, bass, and charango both in the studio and on stage.

Her talent has been widely recognized: her songs have been adapted for major concerts with symphony orchestras, and she has been invited to participate in prestigious tributes to Leonard Cohen, Daniel Lanois, Nick Cave, and The Band. Since the release of her first album in 2007, she has shared the stage with artists such as St Vincent, Sufjan Stevens, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, The National, Michael Kiwanuka, Daniel Lanois, Beirut, Destroyer, US Girls, Jim James, and many others. She has performed on NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts, appeared as musical guest on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert as part of the #LateShowMeMusic series and on Later with Jools Holland, and has been featured by The Needle Drop, The New York Times, and various other publications. Bulat has been a three-time finalist for the Polaris Music Prize and has received five JUNO Award nominations.
