Formed in Quebec City in 2018, the quartet led by Marie Desbiens wasted no time and quickly amassed accomplishments, releasing their self-titled EP Hipshot in 2019 and embarking on a tour in China. Unaffected by the pandemic, Hipshot leveraged new platforms to perform two virtual shows broadcast live in 2020 and 2021, attracting 19,000 viewers. They then built on this success by touring England in 2021 and releasing their latest EP, Stories, before finishing the year on a high note in Quebec by opening for The Damn Truth and The Creepshow during their performances. In 2022, they teamed up with Montreal’s Hell for Breakfast record label to begin production on their next project, set to release next winter.
What sets Hipshot apart? The singer’s voice, both sweet and abrasive, and rhythmic melodies that sit somewhere between 90s pop and grunge. The band even describes themselves as a caramel grunge group, which perfectly captures their unique sound.
