They say the full moon awakens our most animal instincts. On February 19, whether you’re into electronic music or just good vibes, head to La Nef for a night of deep and afro house sounds. Guided by a Montreal collective bringing together DJs, VJs and musicians, the “moonshiners” will dance until dawn.
Born in 2014 in Mile-End, Moonshine quickly became a must-attend event on Québec’s electronic scene. The parties are announced 48 hours before doors open, and the address — always secret — is only revealed by text message.
In 2016, the collective launched its own label to support the artists gravitating around Moonshine and to broadcast their frequencies worldwide. With the SMS for Location series, the artistic core — including singer and DJ Pierre Kwenders, Polaris Prize winner — has collaborated with Sango, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Uniiqu3, Bambii and many others.
Today, the label’s roster includes Vanyfox, DJ P2N and Èbony, hailed by Boiler Room as “an essential duo on Toronto’s club scene.” Now distributed by Warner Music (ADA), Moonshine will unveil SMS for Location Vol. 6 on May 2, 2025, supported by a European tour celebrating the diaspora and its sonic avant-garde.
