NOVA SPEI, a newcomer to the Quebec francophone metal scene, has launched/presented its new album "Eponyme" as the opening act for the band Anonymus across Quebec during the December 2017 tour. In 2019, they toured most of Quebec's major cities during Anonymus' 30th anniversary tour. 2021 marked the launch of their 2nd album Sequentis. Since 2017, the group has delivered more than 100 shows across the province.
NOVA SPEI was formed in 2012 by Dany Soucy (guitar) (Dook, Legion). In 2014, Nicolas Dumais (bassist) arrived. Julien De Carufel took the position on drums in 2021 and to this trio, Cédrick Charlant was added on lead guitar in 2025. Having recently joined the ensemble, Emmanuelle Desbiens-Dubois now takes on the role of vocalist, marking a new turning point for the group Nova Spei.
NOVA SPEI is: a heavy sound from the guitar and drums reminiscent of Deftones, Messhugah and Tesseract. A vocal influenced by Killswitch Engage, Staind, Breaking Benjamen. A progressive side on the bass inspired by Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree. Rhythms that depict with texts that leave room for reflection. A reflective metal with a Djent flavour.
