Perséide has always drawn from fairy-tale-like imagery and a sense of floating to infuse their psychedelic rock with a retro flavor. While their album Parmi les arbres took us on a psychotropic journey through an initiating forest, the band returns in 2023 with their new album Les couleurs d’été, offering a kaleidoscopic clearing warmed by the sun. Both introspective and radiant, the journey offered by the band—consisting of Louis-Philippe Cantin, Olivier Durand, Daniel Quirion, Samuel Milette, and Adrien Lauture—is eclectic, pulling influences from '60s pop-psych, the acid-folk universe of flower power minstrels, and the hypnotic kosmische of Germany. With mesmerizing lyrics, Perséide invites listeners to bite into the forbidden fruit, exploring themes of escape, the search for freedom, and surrendering oneself.
