Funk - disco, R&B, Pop

Formed in the late 1990s, The Voodoomonx began as a punk rock band with founding members Eugene Weissmann and Leo Paul-Hus. Over time, their sound evolved toward funk, drawing inspiration from bands like RHCP, James Brown, The Greyboy Allstars, and Jamiroquai. After releasing their debut funk album Raw in 2004, they gained attention through the Emergenza contest and the LME Battle of the Bands. Lineup changes followed, with Sharon Brooks joining as vocalist and Sebastien Cloutier on keys for Brand New Day in 2007. This lineup played hundreds of shows across Quebec and Ontario. Their next album, an instrumental one, Funkin with the Monx (2012), showcased improvisation and musicianship. After a hiatus in the mid-2010s, the band reunited in 2020 for numerous live performances. Now featuring François ‘Mo’ Moffatt on bass, Annabelle Gagnon on keys, and Gaya on vocals, they released their latest opus, The Way, in 2025.
