Conference - From Song to Screen: Scoring as a Tool for Artistic Diversification

Les Salons D'Edgar

263 Saint-Vallier Street East, Quebec City

18 February / 16:00

FOR PROS ONLY // ACCESSIBLE WITH A PRO ACCREDITATION ONLY

Drawing from an in-depth case study, composers Benoit Pinette (Tire le coyote) and Marc-André Landry—the duo known as Demain déluge and winners of an Iris Award for Best Original Music for the documentary Simon & Marianne—will explore how scoring for film and media can serve as a catalyst for diversifying one’s artistic practice. Using excerpts from their award-winning documentary, they will detail their creative process, workflows, and the artistic and professional challenges involved in composing for this project. The case study will be moderated by Gaby Gauthier-Durand, Creative Relations Manager (Quebec) at SOCAN.

This project has been made possible in part by the Government of Canada and is carried out with the financial support of the Government of Quebec.
