Everyday Racism: A Set of Repeated Racial Discriminations That May Seem Harmless to Those Who Perpetrate Them.

After speaking with several professionals in our field, we observe that this form of insidious racism is present in the distribution sector in Quebec, which can make working relationships more challenging. For instance, it can prevent someone from feeling welcomed or included in their professional network on equal terms with others. It is important to learn to recognize everyday racism.

To address this, Musique Nomade and Le Phoque OFF decided to organize a panel to have a conversation about these issues and hope to provide the network with tools to create a more conscious and supportive collective space. We will focus on outlining dos and don’ts specific to these challenges. The conversation will primarily focus on distribution environments, where agents, promoters, and artists interact.

This is a conversation meant to be honest, humble, and, we hope, useful.

This project was made possible in part thanks to the Government of Canada and is carried out with financial support from the Government of Québec.
