Rock
Loïc Lafrance is a singer-songwriter from Bas-Saint-Laurent, now based in Quebec City. He began performing independently in 2020, releasing an album (Le monde des adultes) and an EP (THÉÂTRE/VIOLENCE) straight from his bedroom. The EP blended artistic and sociological influences, expressing frustration with a system where marginalized people don't have the same opportunities as those at the center of the social normativity spectrum.
Loïc made a name for himself at the Cabaret Festif, where he won the Public's Favorite Award, at the Grand Concours of the Festival International de la Chanson de Granby, and during the tenth season of La Voix on TVA. In May 2024, Loïc Lafrance placed third in the prestigious Francouvertes competition in Montreal.
In September 2024, he released La peur est une fleur, an album produced by Julien Mineau (Malajube). The music draws inspiration from early 2000s rock, with an imaginative and symbolic style. With its raw sound blending grunge and pop, Loïc's performance is sincerely theatrical. It's a multidisciplinary project that combines an engaged yet laid-back sound with a luminous, overloaded, and maximalist staging.
